Post:PART TIME GMAT PREP TEACHER $35/Hour Salary contractual
Requirements and conditions

Work schedule: Has no value
Work place: London
The announcement text:
The Princeton Review is looking for individuals who are bright, dynamic and energetic to teach our GMAT courses throughout the Fairfield County area. Examples of cities where we teach groups and tutor 1-1 include Stamford, Greenwich, and Westport. Our current staff of expert instructors includes attorneys, writers, educators, graduate students, actors, full-time parents, psychologists and researchers, to name but a few. It’s truly the best part-time job around.

We specialize in teaching students techniques to crack the GMAT and graduate school exams, and are always seeking intelligent, motivated, reliable people in your area. Many of our teachers find this job a flexible and exciting way to supplement their primary salaries, as our GMAT classroom teaching occurs in virtually all areas on weekday evenings (e.g. 6:30 -9:30 PM) and sometimes on Sundays (2:00 – 5:00 PM). PLEASE NOTE: this branch does not serve students in Westchester County or the five boroughs of New York City.

Your paid training will enable you to teach students to control the math, verbal and writing sections of the GMAT. For a review of GMAT topics and sample questions, visit
http://www.mba.com/mba/takethegmat/.
There is free software with questions that you can download on this site. As well, you may want to seek out The Official Guide For GMAT Review to access numerous actual GMAT questions. All teachers instruct all topic areas covered on the GMAT: math, reading, grammar, writing, logic.

A class session (12 student maximum) occurs at rented sites such as high schools and colleges. A typical classroom course meets regularly once a week for three hours each session, for approximately seven weeks. A tutorial session occurs in a student`s home and lasts two hours. All classroom teachers are tutors and vice versa.

Dynamic presentation skills, an ability to organize and communicate content clearly and effectively, and a quick wit are certainly preferred. Our students are fantastic, the course material is excellent, your paid training is thorough, and we have a lot of fun along the way.

Strong performance on standardized tests; prior familiarity with GMAT a plus

Comfort level with all GMAT or GMAT topics (if you have not taken an actual test recently, we can provide you with an equivalent to take). You must be comfortable with math and verbal components to be considered.

Flexible hours:

work 3 - 6 hours per week, depending on how many courses you teach

*A short required phone interview is followed by a one hour group audition/interview.*

AUDITION DATES

WESTPORT, CT

Address and dates to be confirmed during interview.

The Audition entails giving a seven minute teaching presentation on any subject you like except test preparation or academic topics. This is not a lecture; we would like you to instruct a small group of six other teacher candidates how to do or about something, in part or in whole, in your presentation. Examples: how to pack a backpack, how to wrap a present, how to paint a wall, how to organize a political campaign, how to decorate a basement, how to tie dye a t-shirt. The point is not to finish your entire topic in seven minutes; everyone will launch the lesson, interact and establish some teaching points, and stop in the middle. The more engaging and interactive a group experience, the better. Interactivity is the key: you should script some questions to ask the little audience of candidates in order to gain its input and to help you expose your next bullet/teaching point. Props, visual aides, and handouts are welcome, and a wipe board will be available. No PowerPoint presentations are allowed.

Once you are accepted, you will need to take a full GMAT online through our website. A score in the low to mid 600’s is the minimum score to qualify you for training.

The training schedule that follows is on weekends.

GMAT TRAINING DATES

two Saturdays and two Sundays, dates TBD based on your availability

all sessions from 9AM – 6PM

you must attend all sessions and there are no make ups

**Please inquire about other trainings if the one above does not fit your schedule.**

Your completing the training would certify you to teach all areas of the GMAT, and qualify you for teaching and/or tutoring immediately thereafter. The training as well as the teaching and tutoring are near to your area. We have classes and tutorials in most areas of Connecticut. Thus, you can work near to your home if you live in one of these counties.

If you are interested, please respond to me at MichaelC@review.com with a note explaining your interest and qualifications as well as an updated resume. I will be in touch with you by telephone (including weekend days--please specify your preference) to discuss the above. If you are interested but cannot find the time to train, please let me know. Additionally, if this is not for you but you know someone who would likely enjoy and do well in this role, please do not hesitate to forward this posting to him or her. Theoretically a fulfilling part time job could be a few weeks away!

Sincerely,

Michael Chapian
